Position Overview

Teaches, advises and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty. Serves on department, college, and university committees as requested. Prepares departmental reports as requested. Engages in teaching, service, and scholarly and/or creative activities as defined by the tenure and promotion policy in the UCO Employee and Faculty Handbook.

College/Department Overview

The College of Mathematics and Science currently has 135 full-time and over 70 part-time faculty in 7 academic departments. The College serves more than 3,300 undergraduate students in 27 majors and provides graduate programs in Biology, Applied Mathematical Science, Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Computational Science, Computer Science, Engineering Physics, and Nursing. Accreditation/Certification is held by ABET, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the American Board of Funeral Service Education, and the American Chemical Society. Department Specific Essential Job Functions

Duties include classroom and clinical teaching of undergraduate and graduate nursing courses. Primary area of instruction in Maternal-Newborn. Possible areas of instruction include Foundations of Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Medical-Surgical Nursing, and High Acuity Nursing. The candidate must be willing to teach courses in a variety of delivery formats (face-to-face, hybrid, and online as needed). Other responsibilities include scholarly activities and service to the department, college, university, and profession.

Qualifications

Experience Required

Teaching, research, departmental/school and university service is expected. An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). **NOTE** If the doctorate is not obtained and submitted by the time of employment, the position rank will change to TT-Instructor. Possesses excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Experience Preferred

Master's degree in Nursing is required. Doctorate is preferred in Nursing or related area. Current Oklahoma RN License, CPR, vaccination status and tuberculosis testing required. Drug screen will be required before starting clinical duties. At least two years of clinical Nursing experience is required. Previous experience in nursing education and evaluating students in the clinical area is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Ability to work cooperatively with other faculty and staff is necessary.
