Position Summary:

The Financial Specialist Senior will function under the general supervision of the Associate Administrator in the School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Radiology at UW - Madison. This position will provide detailed accounting and auditing duties that involve a high level of complexity. The Financial Specialist Senior will provide accurate and timely fiscal management reports and auditing duties that involves interpretation of organization and department rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines. This position will also provide financial expertise, financial management reports, analytical data, and associated financial services to the Department Administrator, Associate Administrator, Research Administrator, Vice Chair of Finance, Chairman, and other staff. Funding amounts and sources include a total of more than $148M processed through the Department of Radiology. This position is responsible for preparing, maintaining, and processing invoices, expense reimbursements, and corporate card purchases; department operating account expenditures; creation and maintenance of financial databases and dashboards and; tracking contract revenue for timely and accurate payments. This position will create and maintain department reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for organization and department financial analyses, and provides customer service to all Department of Radiology faculty and staff regarding revenue and expenses.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Required
-Knowledge of advanced financial principles and practices.
-Extremely well organized with attention to detail and ability to effectively prioritize in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
-Ability to demonstrate initiative, problem solve, and participate in making fiscal decisions.
-Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with faculty and staff.
-Demonstrated commitment to courteous and responsive customer service, with the desire to work as a member of a team.

Preferred
-Knowledge of University and UW Health purchasing rules, regulations, and procedures; payment/credit procedures; travel guidelines; contract processes and; account coding.
-Knowledge of Oracle Cloud, Smart View, UW e-Reimbursement, Excel, Word, and internet/web-based applications.
