Brief Description of Duties

The University of the District of Columbia Community College (Workforce Development) is seeking dynamic, patron-centered individuals with collaboration skills and experiences to serve as Tutor Assistants (TA). The Tutor Assistants will need to be knowledgeable on industry trends in cloud technology and are able to share their insights with students. The TA must have a desire for inspiring diverse groups of learners and a passion for helping groups of learners acquire technical skills, behavior skills, mindsets, and employment coaching that will assist them in being valuable employees in the tech sector.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Delivers online small group sessions to a diverse group of learners and guiding them in their learning under the supervision of the Lead Instructors.
  • Communicates in a manner that connects with the diverse experiences of participants.
  • Supports Generation's data-driven model by tracking and inputting (in Salesforce/ Canvas) participant attendance and performance in class and on assessments.
  • Ensures you are bringing the learning experience to life, building community, and enhancing relevance through drawing on your own industry experience.
  • Provides relevant and timely feedback to students on formative and summative assessment and on client projects.
  • Increases participant engagement using different facilitation tactics.
  • Explains complex topics in a non-technical way.
  • Coaches and guides students to be as employable as possible and support them to develop industry standard portfolios.
  • Commits to and empathize with young/mid-career people and disconnected populations.
  • Provides differentiated and one-on-one support to motivate and support participants to persevere through challenges.
  • Engages in professional development and training.
  • Substitutes for trainers in case of absence/attrition.
  • Adheres to Generation and PDP expectations and policies.


Minimum Job Requirement

  • At least 1 year of industry experience in a DevOps role and/or graduate-level education in Computer Science
  • Must be dedicated to developing skills for excellence in instruction and motivated to support learners, experience as a trainer preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with communicating to large and small groups of people
  • Ability to coach and guide learners in an empathetic manner.
  • A bility to co-lead class, host office hours, provide individualized student support, and complete data entry from 9am -5pm, Monday-Friday.
