Brief Description of Duties

The University of the District of Columbia is seeking a Grant Coordinator to work on a federally funded grant project. Our funded project focuses on conducting exciting research, education, and outreach activities. This position provides opportunities to work in exciting and high impact research and education fields with faculty leaders while creating a strong and long-term societal impact. The grant coordinator position is for one year and can be renewed for multiple years subjected to availability of funds and incumbent performance.

The Center for Advanced Manufacturing in Space Technology & Applied Research (CAM-STAR) under the school of Engineering and Applied sciences (SEAS) at the University of the District of Columbia is seeking a Grant Coordinator. CAM-STAR focuses on investigating various advanced manufacturing (AM) techniques and their application in Space Exploration Technology and Applied Research. CAM-STAR will support cutting edge education for UDC students and faculty members, in collaboration with NASA, Universities, National laboratories, and Industrial partners. CAM-STAR provides opportunities to work in exciting and high impact research and education fields with experienced and internationally renowned faculty leaders. The grant coordinator will have the opportunity to work with representatives from various federal agencies and Universities, and attend grant-related national and international meetings and workshops for career advancement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Creates grant progress reports in coordination with Center Director and external evaluator.
  • Maintains accurate details of grant spending in line with the spending plan for the center.
  • Supports communication-related to center activities and organize meetings.
  • Orders and oversee timely student and faculty payments.
  • Coordinates and ensure smooth transactions with other UDC and external entities such as UDC’s SEAS Research Center and student admission office.
  • Organizes outreach activities, meetings, internal and external workshops and events in coordination with the Center Director.
  • Assists with maintaining SEAS website, and social media accounts.
  • Coordinates the Center related activities including the communication with NASA Research Centers, University collaborators, National laboratory collaborators, and industrial partners.
  • Represents the Center and attend grant related meetings
  • Tracks student progress reports and time reporting
  • Assists in conducting surveys and their analysis for CAM-STAR and its partners
  • Monitors the budget including and ensure it is in compliance with grant guidelines and spending plan.
  • Assists with maintaining CAM-STAR website, and its social media accounts.
  • Assists with the preparation of Center related promotional and recruitment materials.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in project management and/or the management of administrative duties.
  • Knowledge of MS office tools and website maintenance.
  • Excellent management skills and the ability to work with others amicably.
  • Strong understanding of the University’s finance systems, preferred.
