Campus Security Authority Statement
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority. A Campus Security Authority (or CSA) is defined as an “official of the institution with significant responsibility for student and campus activities.” A CSA is required to immediately report any crime that is reported to them to the University Police who will then review, evaluate, and investigate the reported crime. Annual training is required by the Department of Education for all personnel who have been designated as a Campus Security Authority.

Chief Objective of Position
The Investigator reports to the Assistant Director of Title IX and Equal Opportunity and is a Deputy Title IX Coordinator for the University. This position will assist in the oversight of compliance efforts; programming and training to the campus community; and the investigation and disposition of complaints. In the absence of the Assistant Director and Director, collaborates with Human Resources, University Police, the Office of Student Affairs, University Counsel and the Department of Athletics to support the University’s compliance with Title IX and EO. The position provides assistance with the University’s goal of creating a community of mutual respect.
Investigation and Response:
• Serve as a point of contact for all internal and external
inquiries related to Title IX and EO.
• Receive, review, and investigate complaints related to harassment and discrimination including sexual misconduct, in a prompt, thorough, impartial, and equitable manner by identifying University policies relevant to the complaint; identifying and interviewing relevant parties and witnesses; identifying, gathering, and assessing information relevant to the investigation; applying relevant policies/laws; and making findings of fact and responsibility in cases. Assists in the coordination and provision of supportive measures for involved parties.
• Organize and maintain thorough, accurate, and comprehensive investigative files, disposition reports, and other records regarding complaints of unlawful discrimination, harassment, and/or sexual misconduct as appropriate.
Outreach and Education:
• Assist the Assistant Director with coordinating and presenting
comprehensive training and education on Title IX/EO policies and
procedures to faculty, staff, and students; and programs that
address prevention and awareness of unlawful discrimination,
harassment, and sexual misconduct as appropriate.
• In consultation with the Assistant Director and Director, develop and disseminate educational materials, including brochures, posters, and web-based materials, to inform all members of the campus community of the University’s prohibition against sex discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking, and, their rights and responsibilities under Title IX, including available internal and external resources.
• In consultation with the Assistant Director, support the SAVE (Sexual Assault Violence Education) Committee by planning and running monthly meetings and developing, coordinating, and implementing events and programming to raise awareness and prevention in the University community regarding Title IX matters.
• Represent the University and the Office of Title IX and EO at campus and community meetings, workshops, or similar events.
• Develop and maintain relationships with campus and community partners. Collaborate with on and off-campus resources in resolving complaints.
• Stay current and abreast of changes and trends in Title VII, Title IX, and Clery Act rules, regulations and case law and related state and federal laws and regulations concerning unlawful discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct in higher education and in the workplace.
• This position is designated as a “responsible employee” who has the authority to redress sexual violence, who has the duty to report incidents of sexual violence or other student misconduct, or who a student could reasonably believe has this authority or duty.
• Develop and maintain very positive and professional customer service and/or relations within the office/department and with all constituencies to include students, faculty, staff, guests, and employees. Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude and treat everyone with dignity and respect. Fully support the “Student’s First” value at CNU and routinely goes the extra mile in providing service.
• Review and communicate safety issues to assure a safe and healthy workplace and a reduction in work related absence.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) required
Excellent computer skills; Proficiency in computer software to include spreadsheets and word processing; and, the ability to learn computer systems used to manage student conduct matters. Commitment to understand and support the University’s distinctive educational vision in support of its mission and goals. Knowledge of and ability to interpret federal and state equal opportunity and non-discrimination laws, regulations and guidance applicable to institutions of higher education, including Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, VAWA, Clery Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and ADA and other related laws and policies. Knowledge of and ability to interpret FERPA especially as it relates to matters handled by the Office of Title IX and EO. Demonstrated ability to collaborate, identify opportunities, and take action to build effective cross-departmental and cross-divisional relationships to achieve institutional goals. Ability to assess the effectiveness of compliance activities and prepare and present detailed reports. Ability to conduct prompt, thorough, and objective investigations and fact-finding processes. Ability to present educational training programs, with strong presentation and facilitation skills and the ability to adapt those skills to a variety of audiences. Strong organizational, planning, analytical, and problem solving skills. Excellent oral and written communications skills and interpersonal skills. Competence and proven effectiveness in working with people from diverse backgrounds. Ability to maintain confidential information, exercise sound and objective judgment, and work independently.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) preferred
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Maxient. Knowledge of higher education and the responsibilities of Title IX and EO.
Master’s degree in a related field or a Bachelor’s degree and related experience that equates to an advanced degree.
Title IX investigator certification. FETI training. Courses related to Title IX and/or EO.
Previous experience conducting complaint investigations and grievances. For example, investigations in Title IX, student conduct, and/or employee relations.
Experience Designing and implementing programming for college students. Professional experience in higher education, especially student affairs, residence life, student activities. human resources, and/or Title IX & EO. Professional experience conducting investigations in a university setting.
