Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor (Pediatric Neuropsychologist)

Summary

The Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) Department of Pediatrics/Section of Psychology, in collaboration with the Texas Children's Hospital (TCH) Psychology Service, is seeking a full-time Board Certified Pediatric Neuropsychologist to join our faculty. This is an open-rank clinician-educator position based on qualifications and experience. However, all faculty members are expected to contribute to the College's academic mission, and collaborative research/scholarship opportunities are available through partnership with other Section members, as well as our medical subspecialty partners.

The neuropsychologist will join a team that includes 10 pediatric neuropsychologists and more than 30 pediatric and clinical psychologists. The clinical responsibilities of this position include the coordination and provision of comprehensive neuropsychological assessments to outpatients, as well as some inpatient evaluations. Full psychometry support is provided. A variety of opportunities for clinical specialization and program development is available, depending on the neuropsychologist's interests and areas of expertise. Current areas of clinical need include hematology/oncology, neurodevelopmental disorders, and traumatic brain injury, though candidates with other clinical interests will also be considered. Early childhood experience would also be a plus.

BCM/TCH is home to a competitive APA-accredited Psychology Internship program that includes two neuropsychology track positions. In addition, our two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Pediatric Neuropsychology is a member of the APPCN. The Pediatric Neuropsychology Fellowship Program emphasizes preparation for board certification through the American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology (ABCN), a member board of the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). The ideal candidate for this position will have interest and experience in educational leadership within Psychology. Depending on the interest and experience of the neuropsychologist, up to 20% of time could dedicated to directing the pediatric neuropsychology fellowship.

The successful applicant will join one of the largest Pediatric Psychology and Neuropsychology programs in the country, with outstanding training programs at the graduate, internship, and postdoctoral levels. Clinical services are provided within the Psychology Service at Texas Children's Hospital (TCH), the largest children's hospital in the United States and the primary teaching/training center for the Baylor College of Medicine's (BCM) Department of Pediatrics. TCH was designated by U.S. News and World Report in 2018-2019 for Honor Roll status in pediatrics, ranking 4th overall, and it is situated in Houston, one of the most diverse and dynamic cities in the country.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications include a doctorate degree from an APA/CPA-accredited program in Clinical, Counseling or School Psychology, completion of an APA/CPA-accredited internship, and completion of a two-year Neuropsychological Fellowship that complies with the training guidelines of Division 40 of the American Psychological Association (APA). Applicants must be licensed or license eligible to practice in Texas. Strong preference will be given to candidates with board certification (ABPP) in Clinical Neuropsychology. Applicants who are immediately board-eligible will also be considered.
