Job Description

Virginia Tech invites applications for three full-time, nine-month, non-tenure-track instructor positions in the Department of Sociology for the 2021-2022 academic year. Teaching load will be four courses each semester. Applicants must have teaching experience and be willing and able to teach a variety of courses in sociology and/or criminology.

Applicants who can teach any of the following courses are preferred: Introductory Sociology, Social Problems, Sociological Research Methods, and advanced undergraduate courses in sociology and/or criminology.

The Department of Sociology grants the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in sociology and an undergraduate major in criminology. The Department of Sociology is the academic home of the Center for Race and Social Policy Research and the Center for Peace Studies and Violence Prevention.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must have a minimum of a master’s degree in sociology or criminology in hand at the start of appointment
