Job Description

The Assistant Director for Intercultural Learning & Program Director for Mozaiko Living-Learning Community reports to the Director of Cranwell International Center (CIC) and serves as the leader of intercultural learning efforts within Cranwell International Center and the Mozaiko Living-Learning Community.

MOZAIKO LIVING LEARNING COMMUNITY (70%)
Serve as the primary faculty overseeing all aspects of the Mozaiko Living-Learning Community (LLC), including but not limited to: curricular elements; co-curricular elements; assessment; marketing and communications; recruitment; student leadership; and budget and finance. Promote a holistic experience grounded in intercultural dialogue and foreign language practice by planning and implementing weekly, monthly, and semester traditions and programs. Collaborate with Cranwell International Center, the Mozaiko steering committee, and other campus-wide stakeholders to engage and connect with the community. Oversee all aspects of the Mozaiko Student Leadership Council, consisting of approximately 50 upper-class student leaders and mentors. Manage annual recruitment processes (including all marketing, communication, and recruitment strategies) for incoming students. Work collaboratively with a wide range of partnerships, particularly Housing and Residence Life, to achieve the goals of the LLC, grow the LLC population, evaluate the health of the LLC, and plan for continuous improvement.

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION (10%)
Provide strategic leadership for a portfolio of intercultural programs and events offered through Cranwell International Center (CIC). Develop and implement, with other members of the CIC team, co-curricular programs and events for the broader student body designed to increase global and intercultural competence and to celebrate the cultural diversity of our campus. Align with university and Student Affairs strategic frameworks such as ExperienceVT, which includes Gallup CliftonStrengths, the Aspirations for Student Learning, the Principles of Community, and the Six Dimensions of Wellbeing. Work collaboratively with other Assistant Directors and Associate Directors in CIC to manage signature programs, including but not limited to: the Global Fellow in Residence Program, the CIC Program Development Grants Programs, and the Faculty Intercultural Fellow Program.

EDUCATION AND OUTREACH (10%)
Develop and deliver training workshops for students, faculty, and staff regarding the development of global and intercultural competence through utilization of instruments such as the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) and/or the Global Competence Aptitude Assessment. Engage in outreach to key partners in the broader community. Establish and sustain appropriate partnerships with a wide range of administrative and academic units across campus.

GENERAL ADMINISTRATION, MANAGEMENT, AND SUPERVISION (10%)
Serve on the Cranwell International Center (CIC) Leadership Team. Represent CIC on various university committees. Serve as departmental assessment lead and conduct assessment and data visualization related to intercultural programs and other needs determined by the Director. Supervise a Graduate Assistant dedicated to Mozaiko LLC.

Required Qualifications

The selected individual must be a seasoned educator with an unrelenting commitment to student success, learning, and diversity | Master's degree in intercultural communication, language education, international affairs, counseling, student affairs, higher education administration, or related field | Knowledge of best practices for student programming and assessment | Demonstrated experience in the design, development, implementation, and assessment of intercultural programming | Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in living learning communities | Experience facilitating, presenting, or delivering training |Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population | Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills | Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively | Supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and/or providing ongoing leadership for a Living learning community, particularly an LLC with a global and/or intercultural theme/focus | Knowledge, experience, or certification with at least one of the following inventories: Global Perspectives Inventory, Intercultural Development Inventory, Global Competencies Inventory, and/or Global Competence
Aptitude Assessment | Knowledge, experience, or certification with the Gallup CliftonStrengths assessment | Fluency in a foreign language | Study or lived experience abroad | Experience facilitating or teaching language learning | Experience collaborating with student affairs and academic affairs departments
