Position Summary:

This Associate Extension Educator position will primarily serve Milwaukee County Wisconsin.

The Associate Extension Educator supports Science Youth Development programs including clubs, volunteers, educational experiences, and science fairs. The Extension Associate delivers pre-designed curricula and services aligned with the position's programmatic focus under the direction of the 4-H/Youth Development Coordinator. Initial programming focus will include:
1. Contribute to the programmatic support of Science Youth Development educational programs in Milwaukee County
2. Deliver educational programming in a school/afterschool setting focused on access to Science curriculum and resources

This individual will apply University of Wisconsin's research, education and outreach resources to address locally identified needs and opportunities.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

A High School Diploma with at least 2 years of relevant work or volunteer experience in educational programming and service delivery required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Required:
1. Experience working or volunteering with youth
2. Experience effectively interacting with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity
3. Ability to work cooperatively with other individuals, agencies, community-based services, or organizations to address educational needs
4. Experience managing multiple tasks, timelines, and schedules while maintaining high quality of work
5. Skills to communicate effectively using a variety of methods and technology

Preferred:
1. Bilingual (Spanish)

Additional Information:

WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Expected to make individual arrangements for transportation adequate to meet position responsibilities and essential job functions;
2. Work evenings or weekends as needed to meet local needs; and
3. Carrying educational equipment, up to 40 lbs.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:
This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) academic staff position. Final salary is commensurate with experience and education. State of Wisconsin benefits including retirement, vacation, sick leave, health insurance, and other insurances.

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT:
This position is a fixed-term renewable academic staff appointment in the University Of Wisconsin-Madison Division Of Extension. Reappointment to this position after the initial term is dependent upon performance and availability of funding.
