Job Summary
The Department of History and Geography at Columbus State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in 19th Century American History. Specialization within the field of U.S. history is open, but the department is particularly interested in scholars who have research interests in gender history and/or African American history. Candidates who have experience in Digital Humanities are especially encouraged to apply. The start date for this position is August 1, 2021.
Responsibilities
Responsibilties include but are not limited to; 4/4 teaching load; teaching both introductory survey courses (with special attention to the HIST 2111 U.S. History to 1865 survey) and advanced undergraduate and graduate history courses each semester; and mentoring and advising students.
The successful candidate will be able to foster an environment of professionalism and collaboration, work continuously to improve history education, and engage in practices that support the University's focus on student engagement and active learning.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. in American History (strong ABD applicants will be considered, but degree must be in hand by the start date).
