The Lead Quality Assurance Specialist oversees and supervises the growing QA team to ensure the high standard quality of the design/development process and produced courses; guaranteeing that all online courses conform to standards, requirements, and procedures. In the absence of a Lead Quality Assurance Specialist overseeing team members and updating processes, the probability is exceedingly high that online courses will be deployed with errors, lack adherence to process standards, and result in a compromised integration and deployment. The Lead Quality Assurance Specialist position is required to ensure that stakeholders and students expectations for issue-free courses are met. Additionally, conducting quality analysis on all courses produced by the CODL will reduce the number of issues and errors made during design/development, eliminating the high costs associated with redeveloping and republishing courses or elements of courses.

• Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of experience required.

• Understanding of importance of and appreciation for supporting students required.

• Familiarity with using technology in an educational setting. Higher education experience preferred.

• Experience performing QA strongly preferred.

• Ability to work and contribute in a team environment.

Job Specific Qualifications

• Analytical skills required to gather and interpret data, to spot trends, and notice outliers.

• Organizational skills required to track testing, results, documentation, and recommendations.

• Excellent written communication skills required to create concise and accurate written documentation; to review and interpret internal and external guidance, and write process documentation and procedural information.

• Interpersonal skills necessary to brief faculty and staff on quality systems and procedures, and to work closely with production staff to find and adjust errors in the processes.

• Keen attention to detail required to spot when processes fail to comply with guidance and provide alternative suggestions.

• Critical/logical thinking necessary to identify problems and to provide solutions to ensure efficiency and quality of the course production process.

• Leadership skills.

• Conduct quality audits on video recorded content; proof and test online course videos against alpha and beta versions; follow scripted guidelines and editorial comments made by subject matter experts and Instructional Designers in order to ensure a high level of quality and consistency among courses.

• Supervises and mentors the Quality Assurance team.

• Identifies resources needed, addresses concerns and reports to Course Production Manager.

• The Lead Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for consistency in the process as well as the quality of the courses and meeting all deadlines.

• Continually refine and evaluate content for efficiencies in the production process and provide feedback to the design team.

• Foster an environment of diversity and inclusion.

• Listen critically to recorded lecture materials by subject matter experts, review content in the LMS and refer to planning documents to ensure adherence to program and course requirements; perform testing of final online course videos.

• Caption videos in Ensemble; render asynchronous content (all files) accessible for all courses; use keyboard (only) and screen reader to test each video that has been rendered accessible.
