REPORTS TO: Assistant Director, Academic Advising
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides holistic advising for students; assists students in exploring options, setting goals, and creating a plan to achieve desired outcomes; and communicates proactively with students throughout all phases of the student experience.
2. Provides in-person and electronic academic advising for current and new students.
3. Assists in the preparation for and presentation of New Student Advising sessions.
4. Assists in Student Planning overview sessions.
5. Assists students with program completion, following the Guided Pathways model.
6. Advises students on the Satisfactory Academic Progress Regulations.
7. Assists students with completing financial aid Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeals.
8. Conducts outreach sessions to student population (e.g., e-mail and workshops) regarding Satisfactory Academic Progress.
9. Participates in the verification of Non-Compliance reports.
10. Provides advisement to students at the New Brunswick and Perth Amboy Centers.
11. Assists with telephone coverage.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree
• Two years of directly related experience in a student services, teaching, or counseling area of an educational
environment that required excellent interpersonal and student service skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master's degree
• Willing and able to travel throughout the area
• Excellent computer, interpersonal and communication skills
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
SCHEDULE: Part-time position, 20 hours per week, with ability to meet flexible work schedule requirements
that include evenings and weekend hours in accordance with departmental needs.
Monday-Thursday 12:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Tuesday-Wednesday 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
