The International Credential Evaluator and Communication Specialist is responsible for evaluating and processing transcripts for international students by ensuring the appropriate transfer credits are awarded and posted. The position will determine admission credentials for students with F, H, L, E, and other visa types. This position will also manage office publications and occasionally function as an adjunct faculty for the ESL Institute. Duties include:

Credential Evaluator

Examine, authenticate, and evaluate international/foreign academic documents and convert grading scales according to UTC admission standards; determine admissibility and transferability of credit for courses completed at other international/foreign educational institutions; design and deliver credential evaluation training for faculty, staff, or other UTC campus community members; develop and maintain a comprehensive credential evaluation manual and country information database; respond to students' and advisors' inquiries about evaluations and admission requirements/process; utilize UTC’s admission systems to communicate, upload, image, document and share information with the relevant UTC offices and departments; research and validate whether foreign post-secondary institution(s) are accredited and/or recognized according to UTC admission standards; and work with UTC Admission Office and determine students' tuition status.

Communication Coordinator

Write and edit newsletters, social media sites, websites, marketing materials, and office publications; organize and manage student records, including scanning and archiving archives records and files; assist in developing and implementing academic partnerships; participate in-office events and event planning; communicate with international students with various visa types on their tuition status and admission process; and meet with potential and current students and/or faculty to resolve problems or address issues related to transfer credits, degree awards or posting of credits to the permanent record.

Other Responsibilities

Serve as the Designated School Official (DSO) and Assistant Responsible Officer (ARO) to the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of State, including the issuing of I-20/DS2019 documents and maintenance of SEVIS records; perform data-driven analysis in order to sustain and grow international admissions for students with F, H, L, E, and other visa types; and perform other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Ability to work with academic and student services offices
  • Collaborate with undergraduate and graduate departments
  • Experience with website publication and maintenance
  • Experience as an English as a Second Language Instructor
  • Experience in multitasking and completing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity with student records system, with knowledge of Banner preferred
  • Excellent public speaking skills and proficiency with technology
  • Ability to work with multiple due dates

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in English or related field; and experience working in a diverse office setting.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree; prior experience studying, working, or living abroad; experience working in an international office; prior experience working with Terra Dotta software; 2nd language skill; experience in student advising; experience teaching English; knowledge of editing publications; and experience with Banner.
