Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

Position Purpose: To provide educational support for Family Medicine undergraduate medical education programs.

General Responsibilities: The Student Service Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day tasks that support the 12CRP and clerkship programs in the Department of Family Medicine and Population Health. Working closely with the Medical Education Team, the duties will include, but shall not be limited to, scheduling and attending meetings for the preceptor and clerkship programs, taking notes and reporting outcomes, processing payments and reimbursements, providing student placement and housing support for M3 clerkship and 12CRP medical students, assisting with student curriculum, evaluation, grading and awards process, supporting the rotation of medical students within other local clinic sites.

Minimum Hiring Standards

Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills. Excellent analytical/decision-making skills. Excellent computer skills (including database management), clerical skills and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member. Demonstrated excellence in providing customer service. Demonstrated excellence in administration or student services coordination. Demonstrated experience in effectively and efficiently coordinating travel reimbursements and expense reimbursements. Demonstrated understanding of the mission and values of the predoctoral team in the Department of Family Medicine at VCU . Ability to anticipate, identify, and independently solve problems related to the logistics of scheduling hundreds of student experiences throughout Virginia and internationally. Demonstrated ability in multi-tasking and time management. Ability to work in a diverse environment required.

Preferred Hiring Standards

Bachelor’s degree in administration or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working in health professions education. Ability to speak Spanish fluently. Experience working directly with VCU School of Medicine and/or VCU and/or Commonwealth of Virginia systems, policies and procedures.
