The Division of Foundations in the School of Art and Design seeks a visiting assistant professor in Foundations who will equip students with a foundational understanding and beginning command of the elements and principles of art and design, diverse media and creative processes, conceptual thinking, and written and verbal communication skills to articulate process, research, and references. The successful candidate will work in a team of faculty to deliver Foundations courses by collaborating with full time faculty, adjunct instructors and graduate assistants in delivering and fostering a learning environment that will encourage conscientious citizenship and prepare students to make informed, intelligent decisions as it pertains to the community of the studio and the outside world.

The successful candidate will teach Foundations courses Monday-Friday mornings and help coordinate the dynamic and interdisciplinary Foundations program for our first year BFA students. This is a one year sabbatical replacement position.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum qualifications include an M.F.A. or equivalent experience developing innovative curricula
  • Experience working with graduate assistants and professional engagement in their respective field
