FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Starting Salary: $ 15.60+ per hour

Part Time: 20 hours per week

Reports To: Assistant Dean, Counseling

Job Summary

The coordinator for clinical mental health counseling (CMHC) internships is responsible for the oversight of internship applications and databases. This position conducts internship site audits and schedules in-person site visits as directed.

Job Responsibilities and Execution

  • Maintains current and accurate knowledge about internship requirements for all phases of professional counseling internship experiences
  • Assists in the determination of professional counseling program internship requirements
  • Collects and retains professional counseling internship applications, working with students and their advisors to successfully complete submissions
  • Collects, prepares and presents data regarding students’ internship enrollment, progress and performance
  • Coordinates with the assistant dean to plan, organize and conduct professional counseling internship site audits
  • Maintains the professional counseling internship database as well as the internship site contacts list
  • Maintains current and accurate knowledge of Missouri and Illinois state requirements for professional counseling internships and professional counseling licensure
  • Facilitates resolutions to student and internship application issues
  • Continually develops more efficient and effective procedures for processing applications and conducting site visits
  • Verifies accuracy of internship-related web and print media
  • Assists in the promotion and distribution of information related to internships

Communication, Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Engages collaboratively with the assistant dean, academic advisors, internship applicants and internship faculty to facilitate successful internship experiences
  • Coordinates with off-campus internship site supervisors to organize and complete internship audits and site visits each semester
  • Communicates internship-related issues to the appropriate parties

Job may require other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.

  • Master’s degree with an emphasis in professional counseling
  • Provisional licensure or valid state counseling license

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities – May be representative, but not all inclusive, of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform this job competently.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Knowledge of Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) requirements in Missouri
  • Comprehensive knowledge of professional counseling internship processes and requirements
  • Strong technological skills
  • Knowledge and ability to work with data collection systems and procedures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, most notably Excel
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, colleagues, academic advisors, professors, internship site supervisors and administrators

Work Environment – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of this job’s functions.

  • General office setting
  • This position requires physical visits and transportation to and from various internship locations, training events and informational meetings
  • Some evenings and weekends may be required
