Description:
This position is responsible for promoting faculty excellence in teaching and scholarship at APU by facilitating the creation of effective, inclusive, faith-informed teaching-learning environments and promoting high-quality faculty scholarship. Supervising the professionals in the Center for Advancement of Faculty Excellence (CAFE), the Director ensures the creation of faculty development opportunities related to research, inclusive pedagogy, digital learning, faith integration, and other areas related to the teaching-learning paradigm. The Director works closely with and supervises personnel in the Center to ensure effective faculty programming, mentoring, and support. The Director reports to the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs.
Responsibilities:

In alignment with the strategic plan,
create a vision for enhancing the centrality of inclusive pedagogy,
transformational learning, faith-informed teaching, and effective
use of technology in all learning environments and across different
types of learners.
Promote the growth and development of
faculty scholarship and research.
Oversee and manage the day-to-day
operations of the Center.
Hire, train, and manage Center staff
and faculty fellows.
Foster a cooperative team-based work
environment, ensuring a cohesive approach to faculty
development.
Ensure an active calendar of events,
workshops, programs, faculty learning communities, institutes, and
other educational initiatives to support faculty work in all
learning environments.
Organize and coordinate new faculty
orientation and other forms of programming for new faculty.
Enhance individual teaching
effectiveness by consulting (or ensuring the provision of
consulting) with individual faculty to facilitate growth in
appropriate pedagogy, faith integration, and teaching with
technology.
Ensure opportunities for the
development of faculty scholarship through consulting, mentoring,
and appropriate educational opportunities.
Regularly consult with Office of the
Provost and College and School leaders regarding faculty support
needs.
Provide development opportunities for
adjunct faculty.
Teach 1 course per year, unless
directed differently by the Associate Provost.
Serve as liaison to campus academic
units and other offices (e.g., the Student Success Center, the
Center for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusive Excellence, etc.) in
order to effectively coordinate key initiatives and support
services related to effective teaching-learning environments
Other duties as assigned by the
Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs
May be needed to work at alternative
Regional Campuses or Sites.

Qualifications: Doctorate in an appropriate field
Experience: At least five years of experience in instructional design, faculty development, or equivalent leadership experience; strong scholarship record preferred
Workload: Full-time faculty position.
