Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Director of Athletics, the Assistant Athletic Director for External Relations will serve as a member of the Department of Athletics senior leadership team and be responsible for administration of all aspects relating to a positive and beneficial intercollegiate athletics experience for student-athletes.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Three or more years’ experience in college athletics
  • Experience working with a large and dynamic group of constituents
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekend hours
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and written skills
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Sports Management, Business or related field
  • Five or more years of experience in a NCAA institution in a revenue generation role
  • College or university coaching experience
Major Responsibilities
  • Serve as a member of Department of Athletics senior leadership team; assists in the direction, management and monitoring of the Department of Athletics.
  • Organizes and coordinates external relations for the department of athletics.
  • Develop Corporate Partnership Program; create inventory to help drive traffic and expand the brand of local and national businesses through the visibility of Skyhawks Athletics; manage the fulfillment of sponsorship contracts; meet / exceed annual revenue goals.
  • Oversee the Skyhawk Club, the fundraising arm of Fort Lewis College Athletics which provides philanthropic support for all 16 sport enhancement funds, scholarships and major gift initiatives; coordinate all stewardship activities; meet / exceed annual fundraising metrics.
  • Coordinates marketing and advertising plans to increase brand awareness and game attendance; supervises ticketing operation and meet / exceed annual revenue goals.
  • Coordinates Athletics Hall of Fame, Skyhawk Club Social Events and other special events assigned by the Director of Athletics.
  • Responsible for management of on-campus youth camp programs administered by the varsity coaching staff.
  • Assists with event management and game day administration for selected fall / winter / spring sports.
  • Assists with coordination of recruiting cars.
  • Assist in setting short-term and long-term communication strategies that reach all key constituents including: alumni, donors, and sponsors.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement
  • Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
  • Maintains knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the American with Disabilities Act and Section 508.
  • Produces and remediates digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Compensation

Salary range is $42,000 to $45,000 per year plus a comprehensive benefits package.
