Nursing Program Coordinator and Teaching Position

Penn State Harrisburg (PSH), a Commonwealth Campus site for the College of Nursing (CON) curriculum, seeks applicants for the position of Nursing Program Coordinator in the accelerated Second-Degree BSN program. The Penn State College of Nursing is one of the most comprehensive colleges of nursing in any public university in the country. With over 2,100 undergraduate students and approximately 200 graduate students, our footprint is world-wide with our faculty creating immeasurable experiences for our students around the globe. This will be a full-time, fixed-term, forty-eight-week appointment with full benefits for one year from date of hire. The successful candidate will be expected to teach fall, spring, and summer semesters with an anticipated start date as early as July 1, 2021, although the position will remain open until it is filled.

The Coordinator reports to and is evaluated by the CON Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education and the designated campus official from Penn State Harrisburg. Direct reports include all faculty and administrative staff at the campus.

The Coordinator is responsible for the implementation and day-to-day operations of the CON nursing programs extended to the campus. Key duties include recruiting, training, mentoring, and supervising our dedicated faculty and staff, implementing the nursing curriculum, maintaining accreditation standards, managing the nursing course schedule, teaching classroom, simulation, and clinical courses, advising students, participating on committees and other service and scholarly activities, and serving as the Nursing Program Liaison between Penn State Harrisburg and the College of Nursing at University Park.

The position will be filled at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor or Associate Teaching Professor based upon the credentials of the successful candidate. The candidate must possess a doctoral degree; show evidence of professional growth, scholarship, and mastery of subject matter; hold a valid nursing license; and have current / recent clinical practice experience and be eligible for RN licensure in Pennsylvania. The ideal candidate will have superb interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills; a passion for nurse education; a commitment to fostering a humane society; supervisory experience; and experience in an academic setting, preferably at Penn State or another major research university. We also prefer a candidate who is detail-oriented, adapts to change easily, is student-centered and innovative, and has fundraising skills and experience. Area of specialization is open, although we prefer a professional with expertise in community, pediatric, or psychiatric nursing.
