Lecturer in Graphic Information Technology

Location: Arizona State University – Polytechnic Campus

 

The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU) and The Polytechnic School (TPS) invites applicants for a faculty lecturer position in the Graphic Information Technology program, beginning in the fall 2021 semester.  The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and teaching curriculum in Front-End Web Design and Development to a diverse body of students.  This is a non-tenure track appointment with a fixed-term academic year contract. It is anticipated that the contract will be renewed annually subject to satisfactory performance.

 

The School seeks a candidate who has a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching that incorporates active learning, will share our passion for graphic communications education, and be effective in a collaborative environment. The candidate should possess a strong professional background and demonstrated experience related to teaching, training, or curriculum design. The candidate should be experienced in HTML, CSS, scripting languages, and user experience design.  Other responsibilities include working with student organizations, mentoring undergraduate and graduate projects, participating in course and program assessment, and engaging local industry associations affiliated with the program.

 

The Graphic Information Technology (GIT) program is one of the outstanding programs on the ASU Polytechnic campus.  The GIT program educates undergraduate and graduate students to become industry leaders who develop and manage content through numerous communication and distribution modes.  Through project-based learning, teamwork, and authentic client experiences, graduates are innovative problem solvers prepared for leading roles and entrepreneurship opportunities in the rapidly evolving graphics industry.

 

Qualifications

 

Required qualifications:

 

  • Earned Master’s degree in a closely related area is required by the time of appointment

 

Desired qualifications:  

  • Experience in industry standard software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Experience in markup and scripting languages
  • Experience in user experience design
  • Demonstrated evidence of excellence in higher education teaching experience
  • Experience creating curriculum for face-to-face and/or online environment
  • Three or more years of industry experience
