Position Summary:

This is a Research MRI technologist position. The successful candidate will report to Director or MRI Manager or Chief MRI Technologist and will performs research magnetic resonance imaging of organs or organ systems for research studies. The successful candidate is also expected to perform a small number of clinical MRI scans. The employee will coordinate with research teams for their scanning needs and help transfer MRI data to researchers and physicians. The employee will orient researcher, physicians, and trainees to ensure safety and compliance to regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform research MRI scans
  • Perform a small number of clinical MRI scans
  • Communicate and coordinate with research teams on their scanning needs
  • Test MRI protocol and perform simple debugging of problems
  • Use computer to schedule scans, confirm scans, transfer MRI images, and other routine administrative duties
  • Provide regular updates to Director or Manager on issues, progresses, and suggestions
  • Ensure that all safety and regulatory policies are followed

Minimum qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Requires completion of an AMA approved program in Radiologic Technology or equivalent, which normally is acquired in a two-year college or technical school program.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prefer magnetic resonance training program experience with clinical internship or one year of clinical or research imaging experience.
  • Prefer one year experience in an imaging modality.

Licensure/Certifications:

  • ARRT certified with current registration required.
  • CPR certification required within three months of employment.
  • Advanced ARRT MRI certification required within one year of employment.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
