Collections Strategist Librarian and Librarian Assistant Professor

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a twelve-month, non-tenure track Collections Strategist Librarian and Librarian Assistant Professor faculty position, beginning September 1, 2021.

 

Responsibilities include:

Librarianship (85 %)

 

  • Triage purchase and subscription requests to library liaisons. Maintain wish list of subscription and perpetual access e-resources in consultation with faculty and librarians.
  • Work with library liaison teams as needed to ensure effective library support of KSU academic programs, including assistance with new program development.
  • Identify and market new acquisitions and databases identified as low usage to the KSU community to ensure users are aware of resources available to them, in coordination with the Marketing Librarian.
  • Manage trials of potential new library databases to assess relevance to the KSU community.
  • Strategize and develop new collections to support student success and faculty research.
  • Negotiate with vendors on product pricing for e-resources to ensure fiscally responsible management of state funds.
  • Communicate and consult with liaison librarians and teaching faculty as appropriate to inform decisions about library subscriptions.
  • Provide research assistance and information literacy instruction (in person, via chat, or other communication modes) to students and other members of the KSU community as needed.

 

Service (10%)

 

  • Engage in KSU Library System service, KSU University service, and/or service to the library profession.

 

Scholarship (5%)

 

  • Participate in scholarship, research, and/or creative activity. Contribute to the development of the library profession and/or subject-specific discipline through scholarship, presentations, and publications.

 

An earned Master’s in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited program, or the foreign equivalent, is required.

 

Preferred qualifications include:

 

  • A record of professional service.
  • Publications and/or conference presentations.
  • Evidence of working with a culturally and an ethnically diverse community.
  • Experience working with electronic resources.
  • Experience working in academia.
  • Project management experience.
  • Evidence of strong attention to detail.
  • Experience working with faculty.
  • Vendor relations experience.
  • Knowledge of current library databases and vendors.
  • Experience working as a library liaison or in a collection development role.
