JOB DESCRIPTION

The University of Indianapolis is seeking applicants for a Communications and Marketing Specialist. This is a full-time, exempt staff position.

This role is an integral member of the University Communications and Marketing team, assisting in the development and execution of action-based and process-oriented communication plans for a variety of University departments. The successful candidate has experience in the development of communications plans, and is skilled in their implementation including monitoring the success of multi-channel communication plans designed to positively impact enrollment goals. Critical to the success of this position is experience in development of, and execution and project management of, integrated action-based communications including (but not limited to) content development and communications writing while working in collaboration with the Director of Marketing, as well as with the Associate Vice President of Marketing, and the Associate Vice President of Communications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the production of communications plan deliverables to fulfill undergraduate admissions recruitment goals and advancement team goals, including (but not limited to) email content, print materials, SMS communications, digital communications
  • Under close supervision from the Director of Marketing and Associate Vice President of Marketing, responsible for client management pertaining to project planning and execution
  • Work closely with communications and marketing team members to support communications and marketing priorities
  • Provide content writing and proofing support for the University content team as outlined by the Associate Vice President of Communications
  • Manage productive working relationships with creative staff, and university and contracted vendors (when necessary), to help ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Collaboratively works with the Creative Team as well as the Content Strategy Team to ensure design and creative work meets the expectations and goals for admissions recruitment and advancement teams
  • Multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
  • Serve as a collegial and collaborative member of the Communications & Marketing department, assisting with other marketing-related duties as assigned and as time permits
  • Adapt to workload and working conditions while maintaining a positive attitude and professional demeanor
  • Oversee multi-component deliverables through project plans and communications across all parties involved in the project
  • Create project estimates, plans and timelines that consider what each deliverable requires and what resources may be needed; discussing impact against other priorities in the queue with supervisor
  • Manage project risks, documenting pain points, and setting a plan for these items to mitigate against them
  • Effectively track and manage projects using project management software


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, English, Technical Writing or related field is required
  • At least three years of experience in writing, creating and executing automated, multi-channel communications plans, preferably in a higher education setting, are required
  • Membership(s) in professional marketing/communications/public relations organizations helpful
  • This role requires a clean or acceptable driving record according to university policy
