Position Summary:

The Physical Sciences Laboratory (PSL) is a research and development organization within the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education. PSL develops unique instrumentation solutions used in scientific research programs all over the world. Domestic and foreign collaborations include customers from public institutions, private industry, and national labs. Our expertise spans the entire engineering process from initial conceptual design, through engineering development, fabrication, testing, on-site installation, and management. We have experience with projects at every scale and level of complexity.

As part of the project development team at PSL, the P6 manager will have primary responsibility for the initial setup and further development and maintenance of resource loaded master schedules in P6. Additionally, this position will be responsible for integration of a cost and performance reporting tool with P6. This position works closely with project management, cost account managers and the project development team at PSL to report cost and performance metrics on a monthly basis. The position will report to the Director of the Physical Sciences Laboratory and will be a member of the project development team.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Master's degree or Bachelor's degree with Masters equivalent experience required in engineering, business or related discipline.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the set-up and maintenance of resource loaded schedules in P6.
- Direct experience in Earned Value Management reporting including a demonstrated proficiency in the collection of monthly status, entering the status in the working schedule, analysis of working/baseline schedules, and reporting of EVMS metrics.
- Proficiency in MS Excel.
- Experience in the scientific research and development process. Ability to drive reporting cadence with management team, key focused data consolidation, messaging and analysis.
- Planning and coordination of scientific projects, including experience in critical path analysis, slack, schedule contingency, risk management, and overall schedule management tasks.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Knowledge of Deltek Cobra database and integration process of P6/Cobra.
- Collaborating with a diverse work force including scientists, engineers, programmers, and managers.
- Direct experience with Department of Energy (DOE) or National Science Foundation (NSF) sponsored projects or equivalent government agencies of $50M or more.
