Job Summary

Plans, designs, produces and/or creates printed and electronic art work, exhibit designs, and graphic designs for the College of Architecture, Design and Construction ( CADC ).

Plans, designs, produces and/or creates all CADC social media content, campaigns, etc.

Serves as photographer for CADC events and occasions.

Essential Functions

Essential functions include but are not limited to:

  • Designs and creates graphics and artistic illustrations for print or electronic publications and exhibits.
  • Advises and consults with faculty and staff of a department and external entities concerning design projects and expected deliverables.
  • Provides original creative ideas and artwork to support project requests.
  • Manages inventory to include ordering supplies.
  • Maintains graphic equipment and printers.
  • May supervise others in the production and coordination of deliverables.
  • Arranges, schedules, and conducts photoshoots in collaboration with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and other CADC stakeholders. Identifies best photos and edits as needed (cropping, color correction, retouching, etc.) to produce the highest possible quality work.
  • Contributes to and maintains digital photography archive for CADC .
  • Curates images to be used by Communications, including but not limited to the website and social media of CADC and its three Schools, publications, posters, etc.
  • Curates, writes, edits, and publishes engaging, original content on a consistent basis. Ensures CADC’s brand consistency in copy through tone, voice, and terminology. Reposts content at the request of CADC leadership.
  • Develops original social media campaign ideas and collaborates with entire CADC Communications team to plan, organize, and manage these campaigns.
  • Oversees CADC’s social media accounts (and Schools’ accounts as needed), including monitoring comments and private messages and reporting on reach and impact. Ensures visuals (profile photo, cover photo, highlights, etc.) of all accounts are kept up to date and fresh. Strategizes ways to grow CADC audience.
  • Assists CADC Communications Coordinator as needed: liaising with Auburn’s Office of Communications and Marketing, creating and distributing CADC’s monthly email newsletter, editing/updating CADC and/or School websites, etc.

Minimum Skills and Abilities

  • Express a creative outlook in all efforts (general communications: provide design feedback; photography: create pleasing compositions; social media: ensure photos are properly arranged and create effective stories on Instagram and Facebook).
  • Arrange, schedule and conduct photoshoots.
  • Manage CADC’s digital photo archive.
  • Copywriting for social.
  • Manage CADC’s social accounts.
  • Curate photos for social and print.
  • Liaise with Auburn University Office of Communications ( OCM ), CADC and School faculty and staff, and outside parties regarding photography, social media, and general communications.


Minimum Technology Skills

  • Adobe Creative Suite (including but not limited to InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Lightroom.)
  • (Basic understanding of) Microsoft Office Suite (including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.)
