Position Summary

The University at Buffalo School of Law Office of Admissions invites applications for the position of Admissions Coordinator. In this fast-paced admissions environment, the Admissions Coordinator will serve as an integral member of the School of Law’s motivated admissions team, tackling a broad range of administrative functions, including:

• Processing all applications for admission from submission to decision or matriculation; correspond with applicants regarding application status and missing documentation;
• Managing front office operations, answering phones, responding to voice-mail messages, scheduling appointments, handling walk-in visitors, processing mail, etc.;
• Coordinating and overseeing visitor and admit packet compilation and distribution;
• Hiring and supervising student assistants and work-study students;
• Printing admit letters and overseeing the coordination of admit packets;
• Processing payments for admissions-related expenses;
• Assisting in the overall planning and execution of special events, from space reservation to securing IT services, catering, etc.;
• Representing the School of Law at on-campus and local recruitment events, meeting with and counseling prospective students regarding the School of Law’s academic programs and admissions process;
• Reading and making preliminary recommendations on admissibility of JD candidates
The Coordinator will on occasion provide School of Law building tours for prospective applicants and guests, and contribute to the Admissions blog.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. One-year experience in a higher education setting, preferably in admissions. Strong project management and organizational skills, including ability to set priorities, manage simultaneous projects, and meet deadlines; Self-starter with ability to take initiative with minimal supervision, work independently and seek guidance when appropriate; ability to interact effectively and professionally with individuals at various levels; Strong commitment to customer service, diversity, and collaboration; Ability to work occasional weekends, as well as early mornings and evenings to meet the business needs of the Office of Admissions. A valid driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle is required or candidate must otherwise demonstrate his/her capacity to meet the transportation requirements of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate degree preferred. Experience in admissions for a higher education institution. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of applications required.
