Applications are invited for appointment as Research Officer / Senior Research Assistant in the Faculty of Engineering (Ref.: 503706), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
Applicants for the post of Research Officer should possess a Ph.D. degree in Engineering or a closely related field. Applicants for the post of Senior Research Assistant should possess a Master’s degree in Engineering or a closely related field with one year’s work experience or a Bachelor’s degree therein with three years’ work experience. They should have excellent project management skills; the ability to work independently and under pressure; a strong sense of responsibility and self-motivation; fluency in written and spoken English and Chinese; and good coordination, problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills. Experience in management and development of large-scale research projects is highly preferred.
The appointee will play a key role in coordination and supporting the management of new research initiatives inclusive of research projects across Faculty Interdisciplinary Strategic Research Clusters. He/She will work closely with researchers for enhancing publicity of new research findings and preparing exhibition in the Tam Wing Fan Innovation Wing Two; coordinate the administrative efforts of multiple research projects with local and international collaborations; prepare research-related documents including plans and reports; and perform other duties as assigned. He/She may be required to work outside normal office hours and on weekends. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview and probably a written test as well.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary for Research Officer or 10% thereof for Senior Research Assistant.
