University of Virginia is excited to announce the opportunity for a strategic, creative, collaborative, and mission-oriented professional to serve as the inaugural Senior Director, Talent Acquisition and Retention for UVA Health. This new role will have tremendous impact through the development and execution of recruitment and retention strategies across the health system, enabling UVA Health to attract, engage, evaluate, hire, promote, support, and retain exceptional talent. 

UVA Health is an academic health system that provides excellent care of patients, training of health professionals, and creation and sharing of knowledge within a culture that promotes equity, diversity, and inclusivity. UVA Health is an expansive network comprised of the UVA Medical Center, Novant Health / UVA Health System, UVA Transitional Care Hospital, University of Virginia Physician's Group, UVA School of Medicine, UVA School of Nursing, Claude Moore Health Sciences Library, and several other strategic partnerships and alliances. 

The new role of Senior Director for Talent Acquisition and Retention for UVA Health will report directly to the University’s AVP of Talent, with a close working relationship with the Executive Vice President (EVP) for Health Affairs and with UVA Medical Center senior leadership. The Senior Director will partner closely with UVA Health’s clinical leaders and HR teams to develop the organization’s recruitment strategy and framework across the health system, enabling UVA Health to attract, engage, evaluate, hire, promote, and retain the exceptional talent needed to deliver excellent patient care and to drive UVA Health’s strategic initiatives. As a creative problem solver and inspiring team leader, the Senior Director will have a seat at the table for high level strategic planning for UVA Health related to recruiting and retention strategies. They will partner and collaborate in leveraging the strengths and resources of UVA and UVA Health while leading their team in recruitment and retention efforts that are strategic, creative, responsive, and inclusive.

The Senior Director must be analytical, creative, and collaborative. They will demonstrate the ability to get things done while working effectively across a complex institution. They must be a person of integrity whose beliefs and actions align with and advance UVA Health’s mission, values, and stated policy objectives including its strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The successful candidate will have progressively responsible leadership experience in recruitment, ideally within a healthcare environment. They must be able to listen to various perspectives, synthesize information, make decisions, communicate confidently and effectively, and inspire their team for exceptional customer service and results. The Senior Director must be a big-picture thinker who understands how to translate vision to action, and is goal-driven, systems-oriented, data-focused, and willing to embrace and lead change while maintaining focus on UVA Health’s mission and the people at the heart of it all.
