The Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) Program Director is responsible for the graduate Marriage and Family Therapy program in the Henry Predolin School of Nursing, Business, and Health Sciences.  The incumbent leads the structure, organization, daily administration, review and evaluation, continued development, and general effectiveness of the Program.  The Program Director is responsible for supervision of faculty, students and internship activities.

Responsibilities:


Develops and plans academic curriculum

  • Provides leadership and vision for the creation and implementation of a strategic plan for the MFT Program.
  • Designs, implements, and administers all aspects of the educational program for students enrolled in the MFT Program.
  • Formulates, implements, and administers all policy, procedure, and documentation for acquiring and maintaining accreditation in line with affiliating partners and with the accrediting body Commission on Accreditation of Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE).
  • Prepares, analyzes, and documents all qualitative and quantitative benchmarks as required for outcome assessments and annual reports.
  • Maintains all educational records for the program in conformance with state and federal requirements.
  • Conducts on-going assessments of educational programming, including reviewing and evaluating new teaching materials.
  • Teaching duties as assigned.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of teaching by reviewing graduate performance.

Monitors theory and clinical instruction/internships, grading and other faculty instruction

  • Works closely with the faculty and staff to coordinate graduate student instruction and clinical internships sufficient to facilitate achievement of program goals.
  • Secures written agreements of relationships with internship sites, and evaluates suitability for future internship sites.


Develops and maintains relationships with various departments and parties associated with the affiliation

  • Communicates with instructors regarding continuing education activities.
  • Responsible for updating policies and program materials as needed based on organizational policy and COAMFTE standards.
  • Participates in advisory committee meetings.
  • Works with the School of Nursing, Business, and Health Sciences Dean to maintain budget for MFT program and ensure that there are sufficient financial resources to develop and sustain the program.
  • Interacts with community groups, business and industry leaders regarding their specific educational needs.

Supervises students in the program

  • Participates in recruitment of students for the graduate MFT program.
  • Oversees application process and participates in student selection including screening of applications, interviews, qualitative and quantitative analysis of applicants, and final decision making in the selection of students for enrollment in graduate education.
  • Counsels students on unsatisfactory performance or inability to meet the minimum requirements of the Program.
  • Ensures students are well prepared for the MFT Licensing exam.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary Education or Work Experience:

  • PhD/PsyD or equivalent preferred or in progress, MS degree acceptable
  • Licensed (or licensable) in Wisconsin in Marriage and Family Therapy
  • Knowledge of the various fields of systems therapy
  • Strong teaching skills
  • Strong administrative skills
  • 2 +years clinical experience
  • AAMFT approved supervisor or in supervisor track

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • COAMFTE standards for accreditation, including Core Competencies
  • Knowledge of field of MFT (systems theory, foundational models)
  • AAMFT Code of ethics
  • WI State standards for licensure
  • Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Effective skills in teaching and mentoring
