Job Summary

Assists in the construction, repair and maintenance tasks for new construction and renovation projects on university buildings and property.

Essential Functions

Assists in the patching of holes, cracks and other surface problems in university streets. Forms, pours, and finishes cement structures and lays bricks on and around structures. May perform minor maintenance on heating and air conditioning units. Assists in a variety of carpentry tasks and installations including (but not limited to) layout, foundations, form carpentry, framing, drywall, ceilings, flooring, and roofs, in university buildings and structures throughout campus. May repair and maintain electrical devices and perform minor electrical repair and installation. May perform light welding including the incidental fabrication, repair and replacement of metal parts. May repair and install mechanical equipment. May assemble and install pipes, fittings, fixtures of heating, water, plumbing, and drainage systems. Operates motorized equipment including motor cranes, front-end loaders, backhoes, dump trucks, truck/trailer combinations, forklifts, and bobcats. Performs excavation and demolition work as needed for renovation and construction projects.

Equivalent to Journey and/or lead level in area of specialization. High school diploma or equivalent plus 4 years experience in carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work
