Embedded Marketing Director, School of the Arts

Summary:

The Marketing Director for the School of the Arts (SOA) is responsible for promoting and building the SOA brand through strategies that message successes and result in recruitment to our various programs, registration by community members in SOA workshops, ticket sales for our events, and facilitates meaningful relationships between the SOA, alumni, community members and donor relations. This is an embedded position that operates under an agency model within the University's central Marketing and Communications office and serves as a dedicated specialist to our clients within the School of Arts.

The Marketing Director synchronizes integrated marketing plans and strategies for the SOA's marketing initiatives with primary responsibility over the professional experiences for the SOA, museums, and NOORDA Center for the Performing Art's events. This individual will lead initiatives with ad campaigns, press releases, and develop communication strategies based upon data and modeling that engages target audiences in a way that facilitates conversion to key initiative and institutional KPIs. Data gathering and research is an integral part of this role. Collaborates creatively with production and design teams to synchronize deliverables for initiatives.

Has experience directing and supervising the work flow of marketing and production teams by assigning job duties, internal and external communications needs, and asset creation for digital and traditional platforms. Allocates resources of the organization to maximize efficiency, creativity, and collaboration in building and maintaining brand across marketing and public relations channels.

Responsible for obtaining advanced knowledge of industry trends. The marketing administration side of this role involves customer acquisition costing strategies, refinement and development of marketing goals, promotional activities and branding in consultation with marketing clients and staff. Directing market research and analysis to verify opportunities and trends is an essential part of this job function.

Job Responsibilities Defined
Reports directly to and collaborates with the Senior Director of Marketing & Community Engagement to develop strategic marketing plans in close coordination with key SOA leadership and stakeholders. Ideates strategy to maximize integrated marketing efforts through all available platforms including: website, mobile applications, social media strategies, digital advertising and online promotions as well as traditional tactics of special events, direct mail, radio, print, and outdoor.

Must have experience crafting diverse marketing programs with a demonstrated and effective working knowledge in direct marketing, advertising, sales promotion, media and public relations to create a sound and unified institutional brand that is unique and world-class. Job functions include:

  • Develop and execute integrated marketing and communication programs that promote the professional programs under the SOA umbrella.
  • Lead, inspire and nurture team members in best practices.
  • Perform lead generation.
  • Attend key events.
  • Create, direct and optimize advertisements, webcasts, websites, and direct mail.
  • Identify media outlets for press releases and promotions.
  • Enforce brand marketing guidelines in trademarks, logos, and publications.
  • Develop and track budgets.
  • Create, manage and measure programs to achieve initiative success metrics.
  • Drive efficiencies, brand growth and loyalty across a variety of verticals and audiences.
  • Analyze and support both category and cluster marketing plans to align with SOA brand strategy and achieve annual operating plan goals.
  • Develop accountability structure for stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute brand management plans.
  • Create and enhance stakeholder and partner relationships.
  • Leverage customer insight data to drive efficiencies.
  • Develop and implement media planning, buying, and innovation strategies.
  • Provide direction for collateral, web, video assets, and other visual communications media.

    Required Qualifications:
    Requires a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, advertising administration, journalism, English, public relations, communications or other relevant major. Candidate must have at least six years of professional experience working preferably for an ad agency in entertainment marketing showing progressive responsibilities in integrated marketing. Passion for and professional knowledge of music/musicians, theatre, dance, film, visual arts, pop culture, and influencers in each entertainment category.


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    Superior writing, editing, oral and presentation. Ability to efficiently coordinate with various departments, design services, product management, client services, event planning and organizational communications. Along with the ability to build a good rapport with internal stakeholders, candidate must be able to contribute in building a collaborative and creative team culture. Candidate must be proficient in project management, writing, leadership, and budgeting skills to design and implement marketing plans.
