Description:

The Financial Analyst I, under direction, performs detailed analyses, prepares projections, analyzes and reconciles variances, compiles reports for internal and external use and is responsible for assisting in budget preparation and oversight for the Texas A&M Corpus Christi campus.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as primary contact for Fiscal Requests including ensuring completeness and validity of requests, assisting departments with completing the form, logging and scanning the requests and departmental notification of approvals.
  • Assist with preparation of the annual operating budget. Make the corresponding changes in the main budget database to ensure future funding for positions. Complete templates for annual analyses schedules of SCH/headcount as well as preparation of various fee schedules used in compiling the annual budget. Develop and prepare annual TPEG/Set Aside analysis for Budget and Student Financial aid use and assist with preparation of the PBR including slide preparation and data/graph updates.
  • Coordinate budget information for a department/college which includes communicating budget timelines and instructions, compiling requests, ensuring self-funded requests have adequate funding and incorporating changes. Assist with year-end salaries review with these same divisions to ensure all changes made during year are carried forward and are budgeted appropriately, providing several opportunities for departments to review for accuracy.
  • Serve as the primary contact for RFS Debt Service received from System. Compile annual RFS debt by funding source and disseminate to affected departments for annual budget. Support NCAA/System audits with Debt Service schedules.
  • Serve as the primary contact for assimilation of the Quarterly Reports used by President/EVPFA. Prepares various detailed quarterly analyses including Tuition Analysis, Reserve Report, HEF funding, USAS/ABEST reconciliation, and Quarterly Benefits.
  • Perform post-closing entries as needed for AFR year-end. Make Beginning of Year entries for appropriations, including all annual USAS Method of Funding Appropriations from Bill Pattern. Make Budget/Journal entries as needed throughout the year. Make all A/B type USAS document submissions during the year as needed.
  • Monitor and reconcile salary reconciliation reports for assigned departments. Work with department contacts to align salary budgets, expenses and encumbrances between FAMIS and Workday. Assist with reconciliation of Salary Savings entries created during SENC01 batch processing.
  • Provide customer services by assisting with monitoring the Budget Inbox in order to respond to departmental questions or concerns regarding their budgets or balances. Perform account flag maintenance as well as reconciliation and clearing of GL-SL out of balances.
  • Assist with the biannual Legislative Appropriate Request (LAR) processes to include compiling data and ABEST entry.
  • Present instruction for specific responsibilities as part of the Financial Managers Series course (budget section).
  • Perform updates budget department procedural documents as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two (2) years of related experience.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills. Ability to work with large data sets.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
  • Experience with FAMIS or other Higher Education Accounting/Financial Systems.
  • Beginner skills with SAP Business Objects
  • Experience in Higher Education budget, accounting and/or payroll.
  • CPA


Salary:
  • Commensurate upon experience.
