The Department of Exercise & Sport Science at Eastern Kentucky University is one of seven departments housed in the College of Health Sciences. The ESS Department offers undergraduate degrees in the following areas: a Bachelor of Science of Exercise & Sport Science with two concentrations 1. Fitness & Wellness Management, 2. Pre-Athletic Training / Pre-Physical Therapy and a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management both traditional and 100% online. The Department also offers a Master of Science in Exercise & Sport Science and has a Masters of Science in Athletic Training CAATE accredited program. The Department currently is comprised of 10 full time faculty and approximately 15 part-time faculty and 9 Funded Graduate Assistants. The Department serves approximately 450 students across the various undergraduate and graduate degree programs.


Position Summary:
The Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences is seeking a tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor to teach courses in the Fitness & Wellness major concentration as well as core courses within the Exercise & Sport Science major and graduate-level courses in the Master of Science in Exercise & Sport Science. These courses include adaptive activity, group fitness, lifeguard certification, WSI certification, foundation courses and other areas of need within the exercise & sport science discipline.

This is a tenure-track position and requires teaching, service, and scholarship consistent with Department, College and University P & T requirements.


Minimum Qualifications:
A doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DA, etc) from an accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field of Exercise & Sport Science, Kinesiology, or a related field at the time of application. Finalists will be required to provide official transcripts with degree certification.


Desired Qualifications:
Certification as an ARC Life Guard Instructor, WSI Instructor or willingness to become certified within first year.
Experience in teaching group fitness instructors &/or group fitness.
Experience or certification in teaching Yoga.
Experience teaching in or with CAAHEP Accreditation of Exercise & Sport Science Programs.
Experience with design, upkeep, promotion and messaging on Social Media platforms, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram for academic programs.
