Job Description Summary:
The Development Officer - Major Gifts will be part of a collaborative, innovative and dynamic development staff raising funds and awareness for Del Mar College. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Officer will manage a portfolio 90+ donors and prospects for the purpose of securing and stewarding gifts to the College. Will accomplish by applying superior relationship-building skills, mature judgment, strategic thinking tactics, and excellent writing abilities to the fundraising activities of the College. The position will be responsible for identifying, cultivating and securing five-, six- and seven-figures gifts for key initiatives and will play a significant role in the College's and DMC Foundation's success by raising monies for scholarships, campaigns and institutional priorities. This position will work closely and collaboratively with the college administration, colleagues across the college and the entire development team.


Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree.

Two (2) years of development, fundraising or related experience including a demonstrated experience working with individual donors.


Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree.

Three to five (3-5) years’ experience in fundraising.

CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) Certification.

Proven track record of cultivating, soliciting and closing major gifts with a documented record of productivity and experience with donor management software systems.

Development experience within higher education and/or community college environment.

A documented track record of securing multiple gifts and pledges of major gifts.
