Job Description



PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Dean of Student Services p rovide s leadership in the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive student success program. Oversees the office of Admissions, Counseling, Recruitment, and is responsible for registration, recruitment, and student discipline. Collaborates with other LSC administrators, faculty, and staff to provide service to students and serve as their advocate. Work is evaluated by the Vice President of Student Success in terms of desired outcomes and goals achieved.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Make decisions concerning policies and procedures; serve as student a dvocate at various LSC meetings
  • Evaluate a nd improve services to students
  • Direct admissions and registration p rocess; prepare related reports
  • Maintain an accessible program for which students can receive academic advisement, and career/personal counseling
  • Provides support to the Financial Aid office as needed
  • Plans out-of-classroom experiences ; advises student organizations
  • Supports retention and recruitment by corresponding with students and helpi ng them develop their schedules
  • Creates campus brochure s highlighting student services
  • Enforces c ollege policies and procedures; Helps create a safe an d pleasant learning environment
  • Plans and/or coordinates special proj ects involving student services
  • Responsible for other reason able related duties as assigned

    PHYSICAL ABILITIES :

    The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

    WORK SCHEDULE & CONDITIONS:

    • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
    • I nterface with i nternal and external contacts as needed to carry out the func tions of the position
    • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with min imal exposure to safety hazards


    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of related work experience, with at least 3 years i n a Manager- or Director-level position


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master's degree


    Salary

    Hiring salary range is $85,960 - $98,854.

    Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer.
