The department of Sociology, Social Work, and Criminology at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as Assistant Professor of Criminology. The anticipated start date is August 9, 2021. The department will also consider a start date in January 2022.

Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. This location provides opportunities for a wide-range of outdoor recreation activities. Additionally, Morehead State University is relatively close to a number of larger cities including Lexington, KY, Louisville, KY, and Cincinnati, OH. RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach a combination of four undergraduate and graduate courses per semester, which includes core courses for the Criminology and Criminal Justice major and Sociology graduate program. In addition to teaching existing courses and developing new courses, faculty are expected to be involved in the life of the University, including advising students, contributing to committee work, participating in various academic and social events, and pursuing external funding sources. This position is expected to pursue an active research agenda and to support student research and practicum experiences as outlined in the University’s quality enhancement plan.

REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. in Criminology/Criminal Justice, Sociology, or closely related field required. ABDs must show evidence of completion by the starting date of this appointment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Quantitative backgrounds and an interest in corrections and theory.
