The Xavier University Athletics Department is seeking a Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for Basketball. The Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for Basketball is responsible for the Men’s Basketball Strength & Conditioning program, while providing oversight of the strength and conditioning programs for Women’s Basketball, Tennis and Volleyball. In addition this Coach will work directly with the Men’s Basketball Coaching Staff, Sports Medicine and other relevant constituencies to enhance the performance of the Men’s Basketball Team.

Specific job responsibilities include the following:

  • Design, organize, implement, supervise, administer and evaluate the comprehensive, year-round strength & conditioning program for Men’s Basketball.
  • Coordinate initiatives for the Men’s Basketball strength & conditioning program with Sports Medicine, Sports Nutrition and other relevant constituencies.
  • Monitor the physical development of the members of the Men’s Basketball Team.
  • Travel with Men’s Basketball to all away games.
  • Attend team meals with Men’s Basketball.
  • Oversee the strength & conditioning programs for Women’s Basketball, Volleyball and Men’s and Women’s Tennis.


Qualifications and Experience : The successful candidate will be attentive to detail and have the ability to function in a multi-tasked environment. The successful candidate will also have the ability to work collaboratively with the Assistant Athletic Director for Strength & Conditioning and the other members of the Strength & Conditioning Staff, the Men’s Basketball Staff, as well as other members of the Xavier Athletics Department. A bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field, three to five years of prior experience as a strength and conditioning coach, and certification through the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association or the National Strength & Conditioning Association are required. A master’s degree preferred.
