Position Summary:

The Research Billing Compliance Specialist will join the UW Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC) Clinical Research Central Office (CRC0) to provide services, oversight and education related to clinical trial billing to research teams. In order to do so, an advanced understanding of complex cancer research protocols and healthcare billing is required. The incumbent must understand and apply the intricate hospital, University, state and federal regulations that govern clinical research and medical billing. Serving as an internal UWCCC research billing expert and contact, the incumbent will support UWCCC study teams with protocol activation and ongoing research billing activities. Working closely with UW Hospital and Clinics (UWHC) and the UW Medical Foundation (UWMF) fiscal and billing personnel, as well as other internal and external entities that provide ancillary or collaborative services for researchers, will be essential for success.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

A Bachelor's degree in biomedical, business, financial, healthcare or related field is required; however, candidates without a four-year degree who have at least 2 years of experience in healthcare billing will also be considered.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

-Knowledge of medical terminology required.
-Prior clinical research experience preferred.
-Prior clinical trial or healthcare billing experience preferred, including knowledge of Medicare regulations, diagnosis codes, procedure codes and modifiers.
-Experience working with computers and web-based applications in healthcare and/or with Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS), such as OnCore, preferred.

Prefix assignment determined by years of relevant work experience.

Telecommuting agreement may be considered once training objectives are met. Range of appointment percentage is flexible.
