Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of Accounting

Penn State Shenango invites applications for a Full-Time, Fixed-Term Multi-Year, Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of Accounting (36 weeks contract, three-year appointment) with the possibility of reappointment, to begin August 2021, or as negotiated.

  • Teaching Introductory and advanced level undergraduate courses each semester (12 credit hours per semester) in accounting, using online, hybrid, and face-to-face delivery methods.
  • Teaching for Penn State's World Campus BSBIC Program, delivering courses online to the World Campus with the expectation of delivering courses to support the Accounting Option in Business at the Shenango campus.
  • Participating in course, curriculum, and program development.
  • Advising students and provide career guidance.
  • Participating in campus, university, and community service activities.
  • Engaging in activities to stay current in the discipline.

Teaching assignments will require online classes for the World Campus; courses taught for Shenango may be face-to-face, hybrid or online as needed.

Courses will include introductory and advanced-level accounting, possibly including auditing and/or taxation. This position requires being physically present at the Shenango campus for both teaching and service requirements.


Minimum qualification of an M.S. or M.B.A. in business or related field from an accredited institution is required. Preference will be given to applicants who have a CPA or CMA license, and/or PhD in Accounting or closely related field.

Employment will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.

Commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment is expected. Interest in active and collaborative learning, the instructional use of technology, and hybrid and online teaching is an advantage. Prior college-level and online teaching experience preferred, as is industry experience. Enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment is important.
