Job Summary

Purdue University Northwest in Hammond, IN invites applications to fill one non-tenure track teaching and technical support position at the rank of Lecturer in the School of Engineering. Candidates must have a master’s degree in Civil, Computer, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field by the start of the appointment. The successful candidate is expected to teach and provide support for experiential learning for all academic programs in the School of Engineering, teach courses in the areas of First-Year Experience and Design, advise senior design and student competition teams, and provide leadership and support for the new PNW Design Studio and its facilities. This person will also coordinate with the technical support staff in the engineering departments, as well as interface and build relationships with local and regional industry in support of all activities of the Design Studio. The initial contract term for this position is one year, to begin July 01, 2021. Contract renewal is subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding for the position.

Minimum Qualifications
  • MS degree in Civil, Computer, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills
Responsibilities

Successful candidates are expected to:

  • Teach undergraduate-level engineering courses such as Software Tools for Engineers, First Year Seminar for Engineers, Elementary Engineering Design, Engineering Drawing, Senior Engineering Design I and II, etc.,
  • supervise design projects and student competition teams,
  • manage and support the facilities of the PNW Design Studio,
  • interface with local and regional industries and stakeholders to solicit support for Senior Design projects and facilitate industry collaborations and interactions with faculty, student teams and the Design Studio.
