The University has an opening for a Director of Advancement Services.

 

Responsibilities include:

  Advancement Operations:

    • Serve as the University administrator of the Raiser's Edge database
      • Develop and maintain a comprehensive program for data management
      • Work within University Advancement and across campus to assess needs, secure resources, provide training, and recommend customization of application features
    • Maintain and implement data security, user access and integrity policy and procedures.
    • Manage the compliance and ethical standards of the Advancement Services piece to University Advancement
    • Oversee the planning and evaluation of the technology infrastructure necessary to promote and sustain university-wide development, and alumni relations activities
    • Maintain charitable giving through life insurance policies
      • Ensure premiums are paid to the life insurance company and premiums are collected from donors
      • Appropriately document and file all statements
      • File death claims
    • Manage communications with all CGA and UT donors
      • Mail life income checks
      • Answer donor questions as needed
    • Work with Assistant Director of Stewardship and Donor Relations to create and maintain endowment records within Raiser’s Edge
    • Manage office schedules, including, but not limited to:
      • Mail pickup form Post Office and the campus mailroom
      • Car usage and maintenance
      • Supply orders
    • Gift Records:
      • Ensure the timely and accurate data entry of gifts and/or biographic information, including gift coding, fund compliance, as well as compliance with IRS regulations of gift substantiation, FASB regulations, CASE guidelines for development accounts, as well as university policies and procedures
      • Supervise the reconciliation of the gift and pledge process
      • Receive, classify and record all gifts/pledges made to UMO
        • Maintain schedules of pledges receivables and reminders
      • Liaison with the Controller's Office and Business Office for end of year audit reports

 

  • Development Services:
    • Assist VPUA and IA Directors in developing fund-raising mailings
    • Manage and maintain endowment files in conjunction with Controller's Office, including posting of gifts to endowments, keeping account balances and providing reports as requested
    • Assist in the solicitation of donors and donor prospects for annual fund gifts
    • Appropriate distribution and acknowledgement of receipts including gifts in honor and memory
    • Provide appropriate information to matching gift companies to obtain matching gifts.
    • Preparation of data for special projects as required
    • Assures donor confidentiality as well as the confidentiality of projects undertaken
    • Design, write and edit reports that facilitate the achievement and analysis of all fundraising and constituent relations goals
    • Work closely with the Development staff to develop fundraising strategies and integrate with University Advancement initiatives
  • Prospect Research:
    • Conduct prospect research for potential donors
    • Assist VPUA in individual, corporate and foundation prospect research
    • Research to be conducted using available resources including the internet, development files, endowment files, information on the Raiser's Edge and other resources as required
    • Develop research profiles for President, VPIA and others as required
    • Build positive and productive relationships with University constituencies
  • Establishes and maintains best practices and professional competency in the field of advancement services through professional reading, contacts, and development
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office and computer skills to include data entry, ability to run queries, and manipulation of data. Must have knowledge of Raiser's Edge fundraising platform. Strong organization, communication and customer service skills, and the ability to work independently as well as within a team.
