Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of Team Physicians and Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine provide athletic training services that lead to screening for preventative programs, treatment, rehabilitation and referral of student-athletes to Team Physicians. Principally the position provides and directs athletic training services for Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country or Women's Soccer in an integrated environment of all intercollegiate sports according to Departmental policy, Big Ten and NCAA rules. Key interactions are with the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, the Team Physicians, the coaches and the student athletes in the performance of duties. An ability to work with diverse cultures and personalities is required as well as a desire to interact in a team approach with other staff members and medical professionals.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or a similar field, is required. Master's degree is preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Minimum 2 years of experience in the collegiate setting working as an athletic trainer preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to adhering to NCAA and Big Ten rules and the ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups and administrators, faculty, staff, and students. The successful applicant must be able to implement innovative approaches and solutions; work well independently and in teams; be flexible in accepting new responsibilities; provide athletic training care to the collegiate student athlete; ability to communicate with physicians, sports medicine staff, student-athletes, athletic department support staff and coaches.

Conditions of Appointment: This is a 100% FTE Academic Staff appointment. Salary will be assigned within the appropriate range, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. An excellent benefits package is also included. Anticipated start date on or after May 15, 2021.
