Position Summary:

Enterprise Business Systems (EBS) serves UW System and UW-Madison administrative offices. The majority of staff work with packaged and cloud applications. For UW System, EBS uses a wide-range of tools and techniques to support UW System-wide applications. The largest of these applications are the Human Resource System (HRS), the Shared Financials System (SFS), PlanUW Budget, and Learn@UW for System. For UW-Madison, EBS supports 3 primary areas: administrative student systems such as Student Information System (SIS), enterprise CRM (Salesforce) and UW Housing systems.

HRIS Applications is part of two teams that support the Human Resource Information System, which is used across all UW System campuses. The data in this system relates to the employment of persons at the university, and includes applicants, appointments, vacancies, as well as data related to appointments, compensation, and benefits specific to an individual. The work we do is varied and challenging; with a consistent list of development projects that benefit students, faculty and staff at UW-Madison and beyond. The ERP Developer will have an opportunity to learn while you work as part of a team to help customers to design, build, deploy, and support applications.

The ERP Developer is responsible for translating business requirements into well-engineered solutions that are successfully tested and deployed into application systems. The position interfaces with internal and external customers to determine the most efficient and cost-effective approach to meet their business requirements.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Required
* Minimum 3 years of experience developing with widely used object oriented programming languages (eg. Java, .NET, PeopleCode, PHP). (A minimum of 7 years of experience to be considered for the Senior level.)
* Minimum 3 years of experience writing new, and troubleshooting existing, SQL for a widely used relational database (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Sybase). (A minimum of 7 years of experience to be considered for the Senior level.)
* Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
* Excellent customer service skills and orientation.
* Demonstrated desire to learn new things.

Preferred
* Flexibility in development frameworks, languages, and other tools.
* Experience with version control systems (e.g., Phire Architect, Quest STAT, SVN, Git).
* Experience with large Financials, Human Resources, or Student Information ERP systems.
* Experience with Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and web services development.
* Experience with PeopleTools 8.x or Workday Design Studio
* Knowledge of complex business/transaction processing at the UW System and campus level, and experience working within the UW organization.

Additional Information:

Occasional non-standard hours of work are required for upgrades, special projects and activities.

The candidate selected for this position may work remotely subject to an approved telecommuting agreement, which is reviewed and approved annually. Candidate may, on occasion, be required to report to campus due to operational needs for meetings, trainings, or other activities. Remote work requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a University provided computer.
