Position Summary:

The Rivers Educator designs, delivers, and evaluates research-based educational programming aligned with the position's programmatic focus, serving stakeholders and colleagues in the entire state of Wisconsin. Initial programming focus will include: Coordinating volunteer efforts in aquatic invasive species (AIS) monitoring with local groups and partners during AIS Snapshot Day; Supporting ongoing streams/rivers volunteer monitoring aquatic invasive species efforts; Supporting current partnerships and developing new programs and collaborations to involve volunteers in aquatic invasive species monitoring in streams and rivers; Supporting current and future Water Action Volunteers nutrient monitoring program and continuous temperature monitoring; Training and support for volunteer-collected streams/rivers data.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelors degree in a field that relates to the responsibilities of this position required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Required:
1. Work experience relevant to the programmatic responsibilities of the position;
2. Ability to communicate effectively using a variety of methods and technology; and
3. Ability to effectively work with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity.

Preferred:
1. Work experience in the areas of programming and service delivery such as civic engagement, adult education and outreach, natural resource management and water quality, organizational development and other collaborative, partner-accountable experiences.
2. Experience planning, implementing, and/or evaluating community-based, non-formal educational programs related to natural resources utilizing adult learning principles
3. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills in a team setting; ability to effectively analyze and manage conflicts
4. Demonstrated success in developing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs for diverse audiences utilizing a variety of educational techniques, methods, and modes

Additional Information:

The expected duration of this position is 13 months. This position may be extended and/or converted to renewable based on budget and program needs
