Purpose of Position

The Department of Biological Sciences at Northern Kentucky University invites applications for part-time Instructors for summer graduate level courses in Physiology and Pathophysiology ( BIO 868) and Anatomy for Anesthesia ( BIO 880).

Primary Responsibilities

Candidates will have the opportunity to co-teach alongside the original developer of these courses for the first half of the summer and then would transition to sole instructor for the second half. Courses run May 10, 2021 through August 22, 2021 on Tuesday, Wednesdays, and Thursdays; BIO 868: TWR 10-11:25am and BIO 880: TW 1-2:35pm and R 1-4:40pm.

For exceptional candidates there is the possibility of this position transitioning to a 9-month contract.

BIO 868: First of a sequential two (2) course systems based approach designed to provide the student with an in-depth study of advanced human physiology and pathophysiology across a lifespan. Integrative regulatory mechanisms responsible for homeostasis will be presented serving as the foundation for clinical assessment, decision making and management in advanced practice.

BIO 880: A comprehensive study of major anatomical structures of the human body using prosected cadavers. Emphasis is placed on the respiratory, cardiovascular and peripheral nervous systems specifically as they relate to the clinical practice of nurse anesthetists.

Qualifications

Terminal degree in an area allowing SACS qualification to teach graduate level anatomy & physiology content. Cadaver experience preferred.
