Position Summary
The Graduate School of Education at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York invites applications for a Full-Time Visiting Lecturer in School Counseling, in the Department of Counseling School and Educational Psychology for the 2021-2022 Academic Year.
The Department of Counseling School and Educational Psychology has a long history of research excellence and strong tradition of teaching and community engagement. Faculty demonstrate a commitment to creating a welcoming environment grounded in equity, diversity, justice, and inclusion and by ensuring the research and practice mission of GSE contributes to local schools, agencies, and neighborhoods.

Minimum Qualifications
- Hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Ed D.) in counselor education,
counseling, or a closely related discipline. ABD will be
considered.
- Hold Professional School Counselor Certification/License or be
certification eligible to practice as a school counselor in New
York.
- Have a minimum of 2 years full-time experience working as a professional school counselor in K-12 schools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Earned doctorate in counselor education, with an emphasis in
professional school counseling.
- National Certified Counselor ( NCC ) and/or National Certified
School Counselor ( NCSC ).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a professional school
counselor in K-12 public schools.
- Demonstrated commitment to diverse multicultural populations
and to social justice.
- Experience in urban or diverse schools.
- Demonstrated clinical competence in counseling
supervision.
- Documented professional counselor identity through memberships
in professional affiliations (such as American Counseling
Association, American School Counselor Association, New York School
Counselor Association).
- Knowledge of the American School Counselor Association ( ASCA )
National Model.
- Teaching experience at the university level.
- Ability to teach foundational core courses and advanced specialization courses.
