The Department of English and Philosophy at Murray State invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Creative Writing, fiction concentration.

Responsibilities:
The assistant professor will teach 9 hours per semester in undergraduate creative writing and other courses according to qualifications and departmental needs; these may include composition, humanities, undergraduate literature courses, and graduate courses.  The successful candidate will also coordinate the undergraduate creative writing program for 3 hours reassigned time; duties will include advising, organizing the annual reading series, and other administrative responsibilities.  The successful candidate will maintain a record of publication in the field sufficient for tenure and advancement and engage in appropriate departmental and university service.

Required Qualifications:
MFA or Ph.D. in Creative Writing with a specialization in fiction and the ability to teach in another related discipline such as screenwriting, creative nonfiction, new media, web writing, literary journal editing, etc. Distinguished record of fiction publications required.  Evidence of teaching effectiveness.
