Job Description:
Teach undergraduate & graduate courses in Communication Sciences and Disorders Program.
  • A typical faculty workload responsibility may include up to twenty four (24) credits of instruction per academic year.
  • The successful candidate may need to teach in other areas as assigned and qualified.
  • May be expected to develop and deliver face-to-face, hybrid, and on-line instruction at the Mankato campus, online, and/or at the university's additional locations, as assigned.
  • The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in curriculum design, instruction and evaluation, conduct research productively and mentor students in research, help create innovative strategies for student recruitment, retention, and completion, and may be expected to develop external grant funding opportunities.
  • All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly or creative activity or research, in continuing preparation and study, in contributing to student growth and development, and in providing service to the university and community (See Article 22 and Appendix G of the IFO Master Agreement)
  • This position will advise undergraduate majors.
  • This position will supervise/advise graduate students.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Required Qualifications:
  • Doctorate or terminal degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related area. (If ABD, degree must be conferred on an official transcript and received in Human Resources by August 22, 2022).
  • Master’s degree and/or relevant experience in Communication Sciences and Disorders (Degree must be conferred on an official transcript by date of appointment).
  • Hold American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) or eligible at initiation of employment.
  • Hold Minnesota Department of Health Speech-Language Pathology License or eligible.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
  • Demonstrated effective written, oral communication and/or presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cultural humility, competence, diversity, equity and inclusion as well as specific areas of interest including disorders or populations in Communication Sciences and Disorders.
  • Experience in teaching college-level classes or related teaching experience and mentorship.
  • Have CCC for 9 months or longer.
  • Demonstrated preparation to teach, advise, and support a wide variety of students.
  • Demonstrated training and experience appropriate to teach applied courses at the graduate level.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching college or university-level classes.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach the courses listed below, along with additional courses depending on the department’s needs. With special emphasis for diversity, equity, inclusion and cultural humility in Communication Sciences and Disorders.
  • Experience with underrepresented racial, ethnic, linguistic background, in order to facilitate mentorship and programming that most appropriately represents the diversity of the field of communication.
  • Willingness to incorporate technology in the classroom and/or course delivery.
  • Commitment to active learning and to developing innovative ways to support learning.
  • Experience with advising and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students and recruiting and mentoring underserved racial, ethnic, linguistic, ability, gender/sexually diverse students.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with faculty and staff in a collegial and cooperative manner.
  • Demonstrated willingness to work individually and collaboratively as a member of a team.
  • Willingness to develop partnerships and collaborate with internal and external partners to facilitate experiential learning and research opportunities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development.
  • Demonstrate potential for research, creativity or scholarly activity.
  • Have or potential to involve undergraduate and/or graduate students in research or creative activity.
  • Evidence of scholarly activity, including publications and/or professional presentations.
  • Willingness to supervise students in clinical experiences.

Mankato is a city located one hour southwest of Minneapolis-St. Paul. This position is a full-time, nine-month appointment with potential for summer and extended campus appointments.
