About the Opportunity:
Create and sustain an effective infrastructure that supports the advancement of the Latinx Center at Northeastern University in tandem with a breadth of support services and programs aimed at Latinx learners. Ensure the academic, personal, social, cultural, and professional growth of Latinx learners in a context that fosters learner success while also recognizing and respecting the dynamic of bicultural and multicultural life experiences and perspectives. Develop and maintain an environment that supports learning anytime, anyplace and accelerates and supports discovery, innovation, lifelong and experience powered learning. Assist learners in becoming agile learners and thinkers as well in the development of networks. Create and maintain linkages with each College within the University for the purpose of developing collaborative, interdisciplinary, and co-curricular program opportunities for the learners which the Center serves. Promote heightened awareness of issues germane to the Latinx community while incorporating such topics into diversity education outreach and other relevant University initiatives. Oversee the successful implementation of departmental operations, including areas such as student services, programming, budgetary planning, marketing, advocacy, staffing, training, internal process flows, and other administrative functions. Serve as a resource in fostering a climate that promotes increased understanding and appreciation of the needs and concerns expressed by Latinx learners which includes the participation of learners, faculty, staff, and alumni. Develop and enhance effectual communication pathways with other units, including University Colleges in order to maximize the efficacy of Latinx initiatives. Establish linkages with Northeastern's global community that reflect the mission of the University. Create working partnerships with the corporate sector for the purpose of developing mentoring and internship opportunities The Director will have the ability to train others across the domain of diversity and inclusion, Act as a resource to Northeastern University's Regional Campuses and Academic Departments in the area of diversity and inclusion as well as other areas of student life.

Responsibilities:
Advocacy and Leadership Development: Work with learners in order to provide advising and mentoring. Counsel and advise students with needs and concerns in all aspects of student life. Advise the Latin American Student Organization (LASO). Present student concerns to appropriate offices/personnel for resolution. Acts as Chair of the Cultural Care team. In consultation with the Dean, provide vision and oversight for the various leadership and mentoring programs within Cultural Life and Spiritual Life. Will be responsible for development of leadership/mentoring program goals, outcomes and assessment practices.

Training/Capacity Building: Work with Cultural Centers and other University partners to develop and facilitate workshops/trainings that builds capacity with regards to diversity, equity and inclusion, cultural competency, global citizenship, social justice and anti-racism.

Program Development and Management: Develop and maintain linkages with all University Colleges in order to expand programming that advances lifelong and experience powered learning. Develop collaborative relationships with academic colleagues in order to create initiatives that enhance student success. Assist learners in connecting their experiences in the classroom to the workplace. Work with faculty for the development of experiential learning opportunities.

Administration: Oversee department budget; supervise Latinx staff members; Insure smooth operation of the operational aspects of the Latinx center. Serve on University Committees

Qualifications:
This position requires a minimum of a master's degree, preferably in higher education administration, or a related field. Working knowledge of various protected classes/groups and critical issues for various ethnic groups and learners with disabilities. Proven experience in working effectively with Latinx learners and/or communities, and extensive knowledge of Latinx issues/experiences also required. Prior experience working with faculty to develop initiatives for student success is required. Minimum of 5 - 7 years of working in higher education is preferable. Experience in developing/facilitating workshops and training programs is highly desirable. Strong administrative, organizational, marketing, assessment, leadership, and cross-cultural communication skills, along with formal advising and advocacy experience is crucial.
