The University of Washington is currently recruiting for a full-time pediatric ophthalmologist. This position will be based at Seattle Children’s Hospital. This position is without tenure due to funding and is a 12-month service period appointment (July 1 – June 30).  Anticipated start date is summer/fall 2021.

This appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or full Professor, without tenure due to source of funding, and will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Qualified candidates of all levels of experience will be considered.

Responsibilities include clinical care, resident and fellow supervision including medical and surgical training, and teaching of medical students. 

Candidates will be expected to provide medical and surgical care, including evaluation and treatment of consult and emergency patients at Seattle Children’s Hospital.  Candidates will also obtain credentialing at University of Washington affiliated hospitals which include Harborview Medical Center and UW Medical Centers for consult purposes.

Candidates must have an MD degree (or foreign equivalent) and have completed ophthalmology residency (or foreign equivalent) and one or more years of postgraduate training in pediatric ophthalmology.

A strong interest in academic ophthalmology including pursuing substantial teaching and scholarly research is required. Applicants must be American Board of Ophthalmology-certified (or foreign equivalent) or Board eligible and eligible for licensure in the State of Washington.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S,) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
